Investment Analyst

We are currently looking for a self-motivated, responsible and intelligent Investment Analyst to join our growing team. Reports to the VP, investments, the ideal and successful candidate will have superior analytical skills, is extremely organized and a team player who prides themselves on thoughtful and clear communication. Depending on experience, the annual salary for this position is from $65,000 to $75,000. This is an indeterminate full-time position with 37.5 hours per week. Your work locating will be in downtown Vancouver.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research companies and collects and interprets data, including company financial statements, price developments, currency adjustments and yield fluctuations.

  • Engage in regular research, collect detailed, up-to-date information about the Canadian economy and the global financial markets. Analyze economic, market, legal, and political conditions and general current events.

  •  Perform in-depth industry and market research, with a primary focus on the natural resource, real estate and high-tech industries.

  • Source a consistent volume of assets in target markets via various established channels and existing relationships, while establishing additional connections to manage pipeline.

  • Perform financial modeling, specifically for the purposes of sizing debt and equity for the capitalization of commercial real estate acquisitions and recapitalization on assets in portfolio.

  • Use complex financial models to project future earnings and profit potential and use this data to inform decisions and proposals.

  • Analyze company accounts, profit and loss sheets and cash flow information.

  • Interpret and assess complicated financial information and evaluate the feasibility of potential investments opportunities.

  • Analyze investment opportunities for the acquisition and development of commercial properties across all property types, investment structures, and risk profiles.

  • Create cash flow models, sensitivity tables, rent roll analyses, and other financial analyses required to evaluate and pursue real estate acquisition opportunities.

  • Give presentations and sharing information amongst peers and make informed investment recommendations to management.

  • Presents investment opportunities and related analysis while pitching proposed course of action in meetings with clients.

  • Meet with the investment team, including analysts and other managers, to stay up-to-date about market situations and company decisions that may impact one another

  • Develops relationships with clients and expands client network in professional and social settings.

  • Write financial research summaries and proposals for circulation.

  • Provide analytical support for asset management purposes, including assessment of investment performance, capital expenditure tracking and budget.

  • Prepare investment memoranda and related materials through market research, risk analysis, and in-depth understanding of investment factors.

  • Assist in preparation of materials and presentations to the executive management team, current and/or potential investors or lenders. 

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial analysis environment  

  • Demonstrated track record of academic and professional achievement. A bachelor’s degree in finance is preferred.

  • Extensive financial modeling skills and experience in Excel.

  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated, team-oriented and strong time management skills to prioritize deadlines.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal quantitative, writing and communication skills; able to interface with senior executives.

  • A demonstrated interest in real estate, natural resources or high-tech industry.
